Biomass thickensin the transitions of ecosystems.The density of cells per cubic meter doubles or triples where meadows meet forests, land meets water, mountains meet valleys.I read it is because the resources of both habitats are available for any organism living there. Then with more resources and competition, a population arms race begins.Anyway, it appears our odds of survival increase when we find the edges of what we know.
